Reheating meals is really straightforward, but fine-tuning your microwave skills can elevate your experience and ensure every Mealthy meal is perfect. We have been doing this for over 10 years so here are our best tips and tricks to help you become a true microwave master!
Our General Recommendation
For most Mealthy meals, we recommend reheating for 2.5–3 minutes on the highest setting. This method is quick and works well for many meals and most microwaves. However, as microwaves and meals can vary, there are some tweaks you can apply to get the best results.
Adjusting for Better Results
If you notice that some meals are drying out or the edges are getting too hot while the center remains cold, here’s how you can adjust:
Lower the Power:
- Switch from the highest setting to medium or 50–60% power.
- Increase the heating time to 4–6 minutes.
- This gentler approach evenly heats the meal without overcooking the edges, perfect if you have a little extra time to wait.
Plate the Meal:
- Instead of reheating the meal in its tray, transfer it onto a plate.
- Create a small dimple or indentation in the center of the food. Since microwaves heat from the edges inward, this ensures more even reheating.
- Add a wet paper towel on top of any plated meal that may be drying out.
Positioning Matters:
- If your microwave has a spinning turntable, try placing the meal closer to the edges of the turntable, rather than directly in the center. This takes advantage of the turntable’s rotation for more consistent heating.
The Microwave Master’s Secret
For those serious about reheating perfection, consider investing in a microwave with inverter technology. Unlike regular microwaves that simply cycle the power on and off at lower settings, inverter microwaves allow for true power adjustment, giving you more control and more even heating.
